Bill Johns, CEO and Founder
Bill founded Bluewater Consulting to provide best-in-class professional services to clients seeking support for supply chain management initiatives. Since the firm’s inception, customer needs led to expansion and the development of specialized practice areas. Bill currently supports customers from several industries in our firm’s marketing services practice area.
Bill has held strategic and senior roles in the past for HighJump Software, i2 Technologies, General Motors, Baxter, Caremark, 3M, Ducks Unlimited, and several new venture / high tech organizations. Bill’s domain expertise is in strategic sales management, supply chain management, software and high tech solutions, and all aspects concerning new ventures. Throughout his career, Bill has been recognized as a “rainmaker” based on his performance and his role as a thought leader for innovative initiatives and expertise in supply chain management.
Bill has sold to and consulted for high-tech companies, new ventures, supply chain management organizations, public sector agencies, and military organizations. In addition, Bill has sold integrated solutions (supply chain management hardware, software, backbone, middleware, RFID, material handling, distribution equipment, etc.) to most major shippers, transportation providers, 3PLs, lead logistics providers, healthcare, and public sector/military organizations.
Previously, Bill served in a Vice President of Business Development role within an economic development agency, focusing on technology transfer and business promotion in a geographic region spanning 16 counties.
Margaret Johns, President
Margaret leads the test & measurement and German practice areas within Bluewater Consulting. Margaret’s professional experience is derived from working at premier companies with emphasis on global marketing programs to support growth initiatives, often in intensely competitive environments.
Managing our firm's marketing services practice, Margaret engages with our clients to identify pain points and to recommend approaches aligned with client business needs. In service to clients, she has contributed to due diligence proceedings, conducted market research, published market assessments, supported new product development, developed comprehensive marketing plans, managed campaigns, and handled public relations. Through client work, she has cultivated domain expertise in the quality control/quality assurance, industrial machinery, manufacturing automation, and instrumentation spaces.
Margaret’s work in the emerging field of nanotechnology earned her the distinction of being named to the Knoxville Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 listing of business leaders. Margaret remains active within the nanotech community through the Foresight Institute and through contributions as an executive board member. She has served on the Executive Board of the UMASS Lowell Center for Nanomanufacturing as well as the Executive Board of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Nanomanufacturing Conference.
Previously, Margaret was marketing director for a nanotechnology business of Agilent Technologies, Inc.; a spin-off of HP; where her work focused on developing channel partner programs, expansion into adjacent markets and product marketing. Prior to joining Agilent, Margaret managed sales & marketing globally for the nanomaterials testing division of MTS Systems Corporation. At MTS, she led a re-branding initiative including a complete re-launch of her business unit’s website and scale out of the new brand identity across the entire marketing mix. Before beginning her career in the instrumentation and testing systems spaces, Margaret was a consultant with Accenture in the company’s pharmaceutical and technology practices. For several years, she traveled 100% and worked on change management initiatives in the pharmaceutical industry and in federal public sector agencies.
